Job Description

As the Medical Leadyou will provide clinical advice to the Commonwealth of Australia and primary subcontractor regarding medical assessment criteria, processes, and reporting for candidates undergoing medical assessments for entry into the Australian Defence Force (ADF). You collaborate with the Health Services Group, contractors, and partners to guide decisions related to candidate care and the primary requirements for ADF entry.

You will:

  • In conjunction with the HS Medical group, be the primary POC for subcontractor Medical Director, ensuring alignment between CoA, Adecco and subcontractor pertaining to roles and responsibilities, processes and assessment criteria. Work cohesively with the subcontractor to deliver a medical assessment program that maximises candidate care, candidate opportunity and meets the requirements of the ADF
  • Work with OCMO (Office of Chief Medical Officer to manage the post assessment tracker that defines candidates awaiting further medical assessment and/or review, working with HSG and relevant contractors to ensure candidates are prioritised as determined by recruitment fulfilment priorities.
  • Provide medical and scientific input to the broader team and relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • During your tenure with Adecco, and ideally within the first 6-12 months, become a subject matter expert for the Defence Health Manual, ensuring understanding of policy and it’s application pertaining to candidate assessment and care.
  • Liaise with Health Services Group operations, relevant subcontractors and any other party to ensure candidate progression through the medical assessment process, identifying and providing solutions to mitigate risks to target enlistment date.
  • Identify key stakeholders and maintain strong relationships to work collaboratively to deliver any reform transformation, providing subject matter expertise pertaining to candidate care, aligned with requirements for entry into ADF.
  • Keep up to date on new developments within the medical field and recommend opportunities for medical process improvements and highlight current blockers to the candidate process with Leadership for remediation and solutioning.
  • Be proactive in supporting a positive culture and communication with the broader team.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a high service level client relationship through the provision of services that meet or exceed the expectations of Defence and the Adecco ADF Careers contract, further encouraging a strong and ongoing relationship between Adecco and the Commonwealth of Australia.

Your background will demonstrate:

To apply for this position, you must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to maintain an Australian AGSVA security clearance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex medical information to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse medical data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
  • Skills to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently, ensuring timely and effective delivery of healthcare services.
  • Ensuring accuracy in all aspects of medical advice and documentation.
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.
  • Hold a current unrestricted registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
  • 5+ years of broad medical experience in the Australian healthcare system.
  • Experience in Regulatory compliance, quality improvement/assurance, and sound clinical reasoning/decision-making.
  • Defence and/or public sector medical experience desirable but not essential
