The Tax Analyst researches and analyzes tax law, determines current tax liabilities, and prepares various domestic tax returns. Conducts standard to moderately complex supporting analyses, assists with a variety of financial and tax audits, and estimates payment calculations for monthly, quarterly and annual filings.
What you’ll be doing- Reviews, interprets, and ensures compliance to tax law in the preparation of local, state, federal and/or franchise income, sales and use, value-added, and/or property tax returns.
- Estimates payment calculations for monthly, quarterly and annual filings, and ensures accuracy so as to avoid additional tax assessments and/or penalties.
- Reviews and analyzes income and balance sheets, and determines tax liability by jurisdiction.
- Performs standard to moderately complex tax savings analyses and makes recommendations for minimizing taxes by proper application of tax exemptions, claims, credits, abatements and other tax favorable methods.
- Researches various topics related to filings and projects, and communicates information with team members and management.
- Independently fields straight-forward to moderately complex inquiries from internal and/or external business partners and clients. Escalates to more experienced team members and/or management only when necessary.
- Stays abreast of current trends, laws, rules and regulations related to taxes and their impact on the organization.
- Advises internal business partners to ensure a unified approach to tax analysis and reporting is maintained.
- May assist with the preparation of international filings.
- May recommend enhancements to processes, policies, procedures and best practices.
- May assist with audits by gathering data, performing standard to moderately complex analyses and sharing findings with management and business partners.
- May assist with conducting inter-period tax provision and allocation under ASC 740 (fka FAS 109/FIN48) standards, recording temporary and permanent differences in income for financial and tax purposes, and maintaining deferred tax calculations.
- May conduct in-depth analyses and reporting related to mergers, acquisitions, and/or divestitures.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years of related tax experience required. Equivalent combination of post high school education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

- Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment.
- Ability to function effectively with or as part of a team.
- Ability to identify complex problems, analyze information and develop and/or recommend solutions.
- Ability to develop, improve and/or streamline processes to meet established goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply tax-related federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, such as Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICOFR).
- Knowledge of and the ability to utilize financial reporting and tax accounting systems and tools, such as Oracle, RIA Checkpoint and Corptax.
- Proficiency in CorpTax is recommended, but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
