You will proactively identify and prioritise candidates requiring medical support, focusing on those with high progression potential and long-standing outstanding medical actions to facilitate timely progression through the process.

What you’ll be doingThe Candidate Medical Support Officer (CMSO) is responsible for supporting candidates medical progression post-assessment to pre-enlistment, liaising with ADF Careers medical teams and supporting candidates to quickly complete all medical pre-enlistment requirements to fill target priority roles for the Australian Defence Force.
The Candidate Medical Support Officer will assist with the delivery of Australian Defence Force medical services. Ensure a candidate focused testing and assessment process is delivered in a personable, effective and efficient manner. The Candidate Medical Support Officer will assist in retaining candidates by providing high-quality candidate care, guidance, and support. Key to the Candidate Medical Support Officer performance is exceptional candidate care and the ability to ensure candidate motivation and interest in their ADF Careers application towards the next available intake to ensure target achievement success, whilst finalising their medical requirements.
You will:
- Identify candidates experiencing prolonged periods without progress.
- Conduct proactive candidate outreach via phone and email.
- Assist candidates to understand medical requirements and outstanding actions.
- Encourage and monitor completion of required reporting and investigations.
- Maintain detailed records and follow-up activities within ADF careers candidate management system.
- Track candidate progress through to final medical clearance.
- Escalate complex matters to clinical teams where required.
- Liaise with external providers to obtain reporting or Candidate appointments to support candidate progression.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to drive achievement, and excellent candidate experience and to ensure candidate progress is fully expedited where possible.
- Explore all avenues and options appropriate to the candidate to ensure they clear medical assessment requirements and enlist at the earliest available intake.
- Identify and effectively communicate gaps to relevant stakeholders to support target vacancy fulfilment.
- Work closely with Health Services Support Officers and Operations team, as well as portfolio Priority Recruiters, Enlistment Coordinators, ADF Military Mentors to ensure candidate progression to enlistment is maximised.

Your background will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, or a related field is desirable.
- Understanding of basic medical principles, procedures, and terminology to effectively support medical operations and communicate with healthcare professionals.
- Excellent communication, time management, and negotiation skills.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to drive multiple projects concurrently.
- An understanding of candidate management in a recruitment environment.
