About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Network Engineer to join the Cloud Platform team. The primary focus for this position is to design, implement, and sustain solutions and evolution for our public and hybrid cloud network infrastructure that supports our digital applications. This individual will bridge the gap between traditional enterprise networking and public/private cloud solutions. Engineering designs must be flexible and scalable to support the network services for both on-premises and cloud-based services. Familiarity with network automation leveraging Python, Ansible, JSON, Terraform, Rest APIs, and other technologies preferred. This is a great opportunity to work in a team environment where you will be part of the engineering group that supports both our corporate enterprise infrastructure and enables sponsor-facing projects.

What you’ll be doing
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of networking to include routing, switching, firewall (stateful/stateless), network monitoring and management.
  • Recognized as a top-tier expert in cloud technology within the organization.
  • Provides thought leadership, influences technical decisions, and guides major initiatives.
  • Contributes to innovation, strategic planning and represents our department in technical forums
  • Expertise in designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting these various technologies and protocols.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure and have experience designing, configuring, provisioning, and deploying solutions specifically at the network layer.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with other IT disciplines (e.g. Security, Platform, Application) to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
  • Drive enhancements through full life-cycle from concept to final implementation and support
  • Participate in disaster recovery development, exercises, and actual events.
  • Contribute directly to the technical work of one or more projects.
  • On call rotation & resolving issues outside normal business hours might be necessary in future. Currently not in place.
  • Maintain systems and documentation as needed for audits and compliance.
  • Strong desire to keep technical skills current and remain abreast of emerging technologies.
  • Keep abreast of industry white papers & informed of industry direction and best practices.
About you
  • 5-7 years of experience with networking technologies and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, wireless, and distributed networks).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining in Azure (primary), or AWS or Google cloud service technologies.
  • Solid experience & understanding of Cloud Networking Technology: Azure – Gateways, Express routes, Virtual networks, routing, Azure DNS, Private links & endpoints, Azure Front doors, Traffic manager, Application gateways and Network monitoring.
  • Basic automation experience from networking perspective related to infrastructure as code and scripting (PowerShell/Linux/Python).
  • Network security layers and appliances.
  • Different Networking topologies such as Hub & Spoke, Mesh etc..
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology.
  • Application Programming Interface (APIs) and API Gateways.
  • Agile framework or scrum team work environment.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with remote teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Occasional traveling up to 20%.
