Director Strategic Account Development

The Strategic Account Development Director serves as a strategic sales partner, focused on enabling growth for existing clients through partnership as well as ensuring successful renewals. This role collaborates closely with Segment and Portfolio Leaders to define Defend and Grow strategies, identify and qualify new opportunities, support sales execution, and deepen client engagement. This role enhances team effectiveness
by contributing subject matter expertise, expanding stakeholder networks, and driving retention through targeted growth initiatives. Additionally, this role will act as the point of contact for TAG inbound opportunities, supporting enablement activities within the Group.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Drive Revenue Growth and Account Expansion: This quota-carrying role emphasizes revenue growth and account expansion, including the defend strategy.
• Sales Stage Management: Manage sales stages from prospecting to contract negotiation and closure with existing accounts, serving as the entry point for TAG.
• Strategic Account Planning: Develop strategic plans in collaboration with Segment, Portfolio, and Account Leads, ensuring alignment with client business goals to drive long-term success.
• Risk Mitigation and Forecasting: Proactively identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and develop corresponding plans.
• Client Engagement: Maintain a deep understanding of client operations, Pontoon capabilities, and opportunities to expand value delivery.
• CRM Utilization: Document expansion, renewal, and sales funnel progression using Pontoon’s CRM.
• Sales Strategy Development: Determine strategies for winning expanded revenue growth and renewals.
• Competitive Positioning: Stay apprised of market activity and position Pontoon above competitors in presentations and negotiations.
• Collaboration: Partner with Segment Delivery Leaders, Bid and Solution Design teams, and Global Product Leads to ensure fit-for-purpose offerings.
• Industry Representation: Represent Pontoon at industry events and lead customer/prospect roundtables aligned with segment strategy.
• Enablement Support: Support enablement activities within the group to drive strategic alignment and execution.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Significant proven experience in a sales environment with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in selling complex business solutions preferably to Human Resources or other senior leaders and on a global scale.
- Proven history of identifying and implementing successful sales strategies along with analytical expertise of sales processes and metrics. Successful track record of sales growth & client expansion.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Skilled in communicating and interacting effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and management, in one-on-one and group presentation situations.
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and networks.
• Ability to collaborate and influence peers and other colleagues in a matrixed environment.
• Ability to develop and implement sales strategies, procedures, goals and objectives.
• Proven track record in selling complex, global, solutions with a consultative sales approach.
• Ability to strategically plan and serve as an incentive for sales growth.
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally at times on short notice and as required for the role.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Adept at establishing and managing to KPIs and SLAs.
• Proficient with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as Pontoon’s CRM, Salesforce.com and the ability to learn new software is required.

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $110,000 and $130,000. Salary may be determined based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. This position participates in Pontoon’s incentive program which also includes bonus eligibility.
Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan. Available paid leave includes Personal Time Off (PTO) on an accrual basis up to 152 hours a year, 10 Paid Holidays, 1 Community Service Day, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave. PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
