SVP General Counsel Europe

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Legal & Compliance team as SVP Legal & Compliance Europe (excl. France & Germany) reporting to the Group General Counsel. In this role you are responsible for all legal and compliance matters in connection with our business operations in Europe across all service lines. The role acts as strategic legal and compliance partner to the Europe business leaders and facilitates Adecco’s legal efforts to drive functional excellence.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leads, oversees, manages legal affairs in a pragmatic and efficient way, including a variety of core and complex matters arising from the Europe business.
  • Acts as subject matter expert, applies deep legal expertise and practices superior working knowledge. Is a strategic partner to the business, thereby creating and supporting implementation strategies to drive the business. Builds relationship with, and counsels senior business partners and senior management on complex and high value or impact-related matters and represents Legal on respective boards/meetings, providing critical legal perspectives.
  • Establishes and maintains constructive relationship with Global Legal & Compliance Centers of Excellence as well as Global Business Unit General Counsels and their teams with a focus on standardization and subject matter expertise support.
  • Provides legal advice on strategic alliances, corporate law and restructuring, M&A, IT procurement and data protection/security, commercial contracts, litigation and competition law, branding, employment.
  • Assesses, manages and monitors legal risks to the organization and articulates identified risks to management. Trains and advises management on new legal trends and legislation in relevant areas.
  • Leads implementation of legal and business initiatives at the regional level re data protection/security, commercial contracts, legal entity management, reporting etc.
  • Enables and drives ethical business conduct and cultural change regarding Integrity through the effective implementation and maintenance of the Adecco Group Integrity & Compliance program and identifies/manages integrity and compliance risks.
  • Manages, instructs, and supervises direct reports (Head of Legal for countries) and external law firms providing advice on assigned matters. Manages of outside counsel expenses in line with budget.
About you
  • University degree in law and bar admission in a European country
  • Preferred 15+ years of relevant in-house experience within a multinational setting
  • Successfully managed legal teams of significant size
  • Proven track record in senior leadership roles within large global organizations
  • Extensive experience in managing litigation matters and corporate legal matters
  • Excellent financial, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Very strong and effective verbal and written communication, presentation and storytelling skills, facilitating clear and open communication at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to synthetize information and present key data points in reports and viewgraphs;
  • Detail oriented, organized, proactive, collaborative;
  • Strong work ethic.
