THIS ROLE:

As part of the Human Resources organization, the HR Business Partner, plays a critical role in Pontoon’s team. The role must work collectively with the business and use his/her HR expertise to ensure the implementation of effective business strategies. The HR Business Partner provides HR guidance to business leaders, with emphasis on driving the talent strategy within their designated business unit(s).

The HR Business Partner assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates proactively with the wider HR team and business in order to develop integrated solutions. The position collaborates across the HR function to deliver a seamless and value-added service to the business that reflects the objectives of the organization.

The most successful HR Business Partners will be highly motivated, committed to excellence, have a natural ability to build trusting relationships and have a curious mind.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates an understanding of the business needs and provides HR technical and interpersonal expertise for various company strategic initiatives supporting the company’s overall mission, vision, values and business needs.

• Using conflict resolutions strategies, listens to issues, brainstorms solutions, acts decisively to propose solutions, and follows up to ensure successful outcomes.

• Maintains confidentiality and serves as a role model that encourages others regarding Company’s values.

• Identifies training and development needs for business units and proactively identifies and supports individual coaching needs.

• Researches new HR-related legislation and employee relations trends. Analyzes the impact of trends and legislative changes on current policies and programs to recommend and initiate changes.

• Conducts ongoing needs analysis to recommend initiatives and programs which align to the strategic objectives of HR from a people perspective.

• Liaises and supports Pontoon’s People Operations, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure seamless delivery of HR services within the area of scope.

• Works with talent acquisition team to ensure wherever possible internal parity is maintained.

• If required, travels to field and corporate sites to present new programs and address business needs.

• Acts as a change champion within designated client groups.

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

• Provides analysis on engagement surveys including GPTW and Peakon and partners with the business to develop actions and strategies which focus on continually improving engagement, attraction and retention.

• Utilizes metrics and data to assess trends and develop solutions, programs and policies.

• Provides input and direction to the business on internal communications to ensure key messages are cascaded consistently through all levels in the organization.

• Actively supports the business and colleagues in case of emergency e.g. natural disasters etc.

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or a related discipline with a minimum of five (5) years of related human resources experience, with a minimum of two (2) years as an HR Business Partner with broad knowledge and experience in all aspects of talent development; or equivalent combination of post high school education and experience. Prefer certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or equivalent.

Additional knowledge in Learning & Development, Benefits and/or Compensation is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, including teamwork.

• Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines and able to handle multiple problems simultaneously.

• Demonstrates a high level of integrity and commitment to ensure information is kept confidential.

• Ability to present complex ideas simply.

• Training development, deployment and facilitation skills.

• Skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
